Mechanical Design Engineer II

We are looking for a full-time design engineer to add to our team. The ideal candidate will be insatiably curious, fast learner, strongly self-motivated and use a hands-on approach to problem solving. Our business model relies on agility. Typical Responsibilities:

Lead Mechanical design (such as layout or component sizing)

Creation of 3D models and drawings
-
Machine and rework parts
-
Assemble and test hardware
-
Manage the project and interface with customers and suppliers
-
Participate in operations planning and maintenance
-
Operate as a key element in a team of creative, independent individuals

Document work and create reports as needed
-
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
-
Excellent verbal, written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to work in a team environment
-
United States Citizenship, or the legal ability to work in the U.S.
-
Note: We regularly work with export-controlled data and are unable to provide sponsorship

5 years’ experience (or 3 years with an MS degree)
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Mechanism design experience and manufacturing knowledge
-
3D Modeling capability with understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing

Mechanical analysis (Finite Element, Matlab/Simulink, Mathcad, Excel)
-
Relevant classes: structural dynamics, kinematics, vibrations, finite element analysis, and strength of materials
Work Location / Hours:

Mostly on-site in Amherst, NY (near UB North campus)

Intermittent remote work as needed

Hours are flexible
